The Two Daughters is based upon Matthew 21.28-32
So a mother had two daughters. She went to the first and said, ‘Love, can you go and work in the shop today?’
The answer was, ‘Oh, Mum! No, I don’t want to work in the shop today!’ Later on, however, the daughter changed her mind and went to work in the shop for the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, the mother went to the second of her two daughters and asked her to work in the shop. This daughter said, ‘Of course, Mum. I’ll go right away,’ but didn’t go. So, who out of the two daughters did what their parent wanted?
The reply from everyone was, ‘The first.’
Then Jesus said, ‘I’m telling you – and it’s true – you’ll find loan sharks and streetwalkers in God’s nation before you get there. Before me, John the Baptist came and showed you how to live the way God wants. Did you believe him? No. But who did believe him? It was the loan sharks and the streetwalkers. You, you saw him, but you didn’t believe him and you didn’t change your ways.’
