The Persistent Widow is based on Luke 18:2-8.

A small town had an MP, an MP who couldn’t care less about God and didn’t respect his constituents. Also living there was a widowed mother, with two small children. She kept coming to the MP’s surgery, saying: ‘Look, I’m being victimised by the council. Help me get justice!’

But the MP ignored her, for a long, long time. However, the widow, she kept turning up and turning up and turning up. Eventually the MP said to himself: ‘I don’t worry about God or what’s right, I don’t care what either my constituents or the papers say. But I do care that this woman never stops pestering me! I suppose I’d better help her, before she wears me out!’

Now, think about what that unfair MP said. Won’t God try and bring in right for the people he loves? They’re begging him to do that round the clock! Will God keep on delaying and delaying? No, he’ll see that they get justice, and fast!

But the thing is, when the ‘Son of Man’ comes – will he find any trust in God left on this Earth?
