The Big Parade is based on Matthew 25:1-12
God’s nation will be like ten girls from a girl’s marching band who were in the welcome parade for a royal visit. Now, five of them were thoughtless and five of them were sensible. The five thoughtless ones left their enormous flags in the band’s van, the five sensible ones took their flags with them.
See, the royal had always planned the parade as a nighttime one, with a party afterward, but they were delayed and then delayed some more. So it was a long wait, and the girls had spent a long day rehearsing. One by one, they first became drowsy, then they fell asleep.
Then, at what seemed like midnight, the word spread through the parade, “The royal’s here! Everyone take your places!”
So, the ten girls all woke up and got ready. “Our flags are in the van!” the thoughtless ones wailed.
“Well, go and get them!” the sensible ones replied. “It’s not as if we can lend you our flags! If we do that, we won’t have a flag!”
But now the crowds were there, to greet the royal and see the parade, and it took ages for the girls to struggle through to the band’s van. While they were on their way, the royal arrived.
But the five sensible girls, ready and waiting, just adjusted their formation and marched in the parade. Then afterwards, they all went to the parade party.
Later, the thoughtless girls arrived. “Your Royal Highness!” they pleaded. “Please let us in! You can get us past security!”
But the royal replied: “This party is for those who welcomed me. You didn’t – and I don’t know you.”
