Mushrooms and Toadstools is based on Matthew 13:24-30
God’s nation is like a bloke who grew mushrooms in a box. One day he took a nap and his rival came and spread some toadstool spores all over the box. So, when the mushrooms sprouted, the toadstools also started coming up.
His mates took a look and said ‘hang on, you bought a proper mushroom box. Where’d those toadstools come from?’
‘I reckon,’ he said, ‘some backstabber’s done this.’
‘Well,’ said the mates, ‘do you want us to help you pick out the toadstools?’
‘Not yet,’ said the bloke. ‘See, while we’re pulling up the toadstools, we’ll probably pull a lot of the mushrooms up with them. Let’s leave them all until they’re big enough to pick properly, then we can sort out the toadstools and pop them in the food recycling. After that, we can bring in the mushrooms!’
