Left in Charge is based on Matthew 24:45-51
So who’s the responsible, sensible worker whose employer has put them in temporary charge of an entire care home? Left them in charge of making sure the residents have food and care? It’s going to be good for that worker when their employer gets back and finds them working hard. They’ll get promoted, become the new manager.
But suppose that worker was untrustworthy? That they said to themselves, ‘my employer won’t be back for ages.’ That they start ill-treating the residents, stealing their things and using the money to go drinking with their friends?
Their employer will come back on a day they don’t expect! They’re going to arrive unannounced. They’re going to have that worker explain what they’ve done to the relatives, who will try to tear him to pieces! Everyone will cheer when he’s fired.
Yup, there’s going to be weeping and wailing all right, especially when the police arrest them for wilful neglect and ill-treatment. And the courts will find them guilty – and send them to prison!
